Compare how different instructors deliver skills within the same course.

The Instructor Skills Analysis tool in Mapademics gives academic leaders, department chairs, and institutional researchers a clear, data-driven view of instructional consistency—helping ensure that all students, regardless of section or campus, receive the same high-quality learning experience.

Step 1 — Select the Instructors tab

Switch to the Instructors view to focus on performance at the faculty level. This lets you drill into individual teaching patterns instead of just course or program data.

Step 2 — Choose an Instructor and Course

  • Instructor selection: Pick a faculty member from the dropdown to evaluate.

  • Course selection: Choose the course you want to analyze (e.g., AMH-1010 – Introductory Survey up to 1877).

Step 3 — View the Course Section Heat Map

The heat map shows skill coverage for the selected instructor alongside peers teaching the same course.

  • Green (Level 4–5): Extensive coverage of the skill.

  • Orange (Level 3): Moderate coverage.

  • Red (Level 1–2): Limited coverage.

  • Gray: Skill not taught in that section.

Why Instructor Skills Analysis Matters

Identify and Close Instructional Gaps

Spot when one instructor’s section omits a key skill—such as Critical Thinking or Regulation & Legal Compliance—that’s fully covered in other sections. This allows targeted professional development and resource allocation.

Ensure Consistent Learning Outcomes

Accreditation bodies and students expect uniformity. Instructor-level comparisons help standardize delivery across campuses and sections.

Empower Faculty Development

Provide instructors with constructive, data-backed feedback on where they excel and where there’s room for improvement, promoting collaboration and best practice sharing.

Support Workforce Alignment

By ensuring every instructor covers critical workforce-relevant skills, you increase student employability and demonstrate your institution’s commitment to career readiness.

Designed for Higher-Ed Leaders:

  • Provosts & Academic Deans: Maintain consistent academic quality across faculty.

  • Curriculum Directors: Align teaching practices with institutional learning goals.

  • Faculty Development Coordinators: Use real data to design targeted workshops.

  • Institutional Research Teams: Document and report skill coverage for accreditation.
